MIDDLESEX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Position: Substitute School Nutrition Staff
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To prepare, cook and serve hot and cold food to students, faculty and staff. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have: A high school diploma or GED certificate with up to one month related experience or training preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Wears appropriate apparel while working.
- Uses and follows standardized recipes in preparation of food.
- Serves all food according to instructions.
- Cleans any area of kitchen according to sanitary regulations.
- Stores all food properly and uses all safety instructions when using equipment.
- Uses discretion in matters of confidentiality.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performaed by other unit members. Performs other duties as directed.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to calculate, compute, summate and/or tabulate data and/or information. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations. Human Interaction: Requires ability to interact with others in a cordial manner. Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly or quickly. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written, oral instructions. Involves routine work according to clearly prescribed standard practices, with some latitude for independent judgment. Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.
ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently; Finger dexterity(picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm), grasping(applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm). Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability. Environmental Factors: Tasks are usually performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic, poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
